Volunteer With Us!

We rely on volunteers to provide dinner for our guests at the Florence Emergency Cold Weather Shelter.

This is a great way to get involved in your community. It doesn’t require an ongoing commitment or extensive planning—you just need to be able to cook a meal!

We reimburse volunteer cooks for their ingredients if they turn in their receipts.

Volunteer cooks are invited to help serve, but that is optional. The shelter will provide paper plates and silverware. We currently have a very nice selection of serving utensils. No need to bring your own.

Some ideas that may be helpful to the cooks are below.

  1. A gallon of milk is appreciated at every meal by our guests.

  3. If you’re interested in splitting the meal preparation with others, just let us know what you want to contribute and how many people it will feed. We will match you up with others. Please give an approximate time you will be delivering the food to the Shelter.

  5. Dinner is served 5:00-6, again cooks choice. Driving after dark is an issue for some of us. Please state your approximate delivery time when you sign up on the website.

  6. If meal delivery is an issue, someone will come pick up your meal and deliver it to the Shelter.

There are many other ways to volunteer besides cooking. Help is always needed with intake, laundry, cleaning, community outreach, transportation, and much more. No matter what your talents, we can put them to good use!
